Foniso, a social networking app for sports fans, plans to partner with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) and Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) clubs to showcase local talents to the world through the platform.
Dominic Essien, founder and chief executive officer (CEO) of Foniso, spoke at a press conference in Lagos on Tuesday.
According to Essien, Foniso is an app that helps sports enthusiasts find a community and talk exclusively about sports.
He added that the “LinkedIn for the global sports community” hopes to connect fans with rising stars, superstars, and legends around the world.
Essien said users can “project their sports talents” through the platform, adding that Foniso would partner with Nigerian clubs and federations “in view of projecting your clubs and your stars”.
“One of our strategic direction, we will be meeting with NFF. We want to go with a two-pronged approach: meet the clubs themselves and meet the football federation and see if they can bring the club on board.

“Hypothetically, 22 clubs each have 22 players, each with 10 fans, which builds the number we wanted. We also need to protect those individual teams. It could be from both parties. Clubs can showcase their games and players.
“Do whatever you want to do on the platform in relation to sports so that when we are marketing it outside Nigeria. Do anything you want in view of projecting your clubs and your stars.”
Essien also added that Foniso users would monetise their content on the platform based on views and clicks they garner from other users.
