For 2015 elections, Enugu cancels work for 3 days

The Enugu State Government has declared a three-day public holiday to enable residents participate in the ongoing Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) in the state.

Commissioner for Information, Mr. Chuks Ugwoke, who made this known in Enugu, said the government decided to declare May 28 to May 30 as public holidays in order to enable residents who turned 18 years and above after the last exercise in 2011 to vote during the 2015 general elections.

He also urged those who had not registered at all and new residents in the state to take advantage of the holidays to register.

Meanwhile, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has advised those seeking to transfer their cards to the state to apply to local governments to receive the new voter card.

Resident Electoral Commissioner of the state, Dr Lawrence Azubuike, told residents to submit their applications to its offices in the 17 local governments between May 26 and May 27.

The conduct of continuous voter registration is scheduled to hold in Enugu between May 28 and June 1.
