The National Environmental Standards and Regulations Enforcement Agency (NESREA) says it has begun what it calls ‘NESREA classes’ to create awareness on environmental regulations.

In a tweet on Monday, the agency said the classes, which will be posted on Monday and Wednesday weekly on social media, aims to increase compliance with the regulations.

“NESREA CLASSES: Welcome to our first ‘class’ on Regulations 101,” the tweet reads.

“This ‘class’ was created with the aim of creating awareness of the National Environmental Regulations which will ultimately increase compliance with the regulations.

“Regulations 101 ‘class’ will involve posting a new regulation every Monday and Wednesday, with a link to where the regulation could be downloaded from and participants are free to drop their questions in the comments section.

“In today’s class, the focus is on the National Environmental (Domestic and Industrial Plastic, Rubber and Foam Sector) Regulations, S. I. No. 17 of 2011.

“The principal thrust of this Regulation is to prevent and minimize pollution from all operations and ancillary activities of the Domestic and Industrial Plastic, Rubber and Foam Sector to the Nigerian environment.”
