The police command in Lagos says its officers have raided a house in the Agege area of the state where fake alcoholic drinks are being produced.

Benjamin Hundeyin, Lagos police spokesperson, in a statement on Thursday, said four people were arrested over the illegal distillery.

“Officers of Isokoko Division, acting on credible information, raided a house in Agege where fake alcoholic drinks were being produced,” the statement reads.

“The police arrested four people behind the illegal distillery, and recovered fake drinks, empty bottles and labels of different brands. Investigation is ongoing.”

The raid is the latest of the clampdown against persons who are producing fake beverages in the country.

In December 2023, police raided a dilapidated building where some persons used as factory for producing fake drinks in the Ojo axis of Lagos.

Two suspects were arrested during the raid.

The raid was sequel to the discovery of over 240 shops in the popular Cemetery market in Abia, where adulterated beverages were being produced in commercial quantities.
