The Kaduna chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has appealed to Nigerians to support calls to concerned authorities to secure the release of the four remaining abducted students of Bethel Baptist High School, Damishi.

On July 5, bandits invaded the school and kidnapped 121 students.

On July 25, the first set of 28 students were freed after the bandits reportedly collected a ransom of N100 million.

Since the release of the first set, a total of 117 students have regained their freedom in batches.

Speaking on the development, Joseph Hayab, Kaduna CAN chairman, in a statement on Saturday, expressed concern that four of the abducted students are still in captivity after more than three months.

“It is sad to again remind us that despite different security measures put forward by the government in Kaduna state, our children of Bethel Baptist High School who were kidnapped since July 5th 2021 at the school premises in Damishi, Kaduna, have not all yet been released,” he said.

“We have prayed and we are still praying. We have appealed and cried out to the government and those who we thought are responsible for the security of our nation, but the journey to freedom for these children has been with a speed of a snail.

“CAN, Kaduna state, therefore, wishes to let Nigerians know that we still have four of our school children in captivity. The pains and trauma their parents are going through cannot be described.

“We must not forget these children and we are pleading with all spirited Nigerians to join us to appeal to those concerned or do anything they can to help bring the four remaining children back home.”
