At least four persons were killed on Thursday when suspected bandits attacked Giyawa village in Goronyo LGA of Sokoto state.
According to Ahmed Rufai, spokesperson of the Sokoto police command, the attackers also abducted 18 villagers.
Rufai added that seven of those abducted later escaped and returned to the community.
He told journalists that security operatives were tracking down the bandits.

“Alongside their captives, the attackers also made off with valuable livestock and other possessions, leaving devastation in their wake,” he said.
“However, seven of the abducted individuals managed to escape from their captors and bravely returned to their community.
“We are dedicated to restoring normalcy to Giyawa village and its environs, sparing no effort to bring those responsible to justice and provide the shattered community with the security and peace it so needs.”

In June, 37 persons were killed after bandits attacked Raka, Raka Dutse and Filingawa communities in Tangaza LGA of Sokoto state.
