The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) says fourteen of its personnel will face a disciplinary panel over alleged extortion of motorists.

LASTMA said the affected officers, comprising 11 senior officers and three juniors, have been investigated by the agency.

In a statement on Monday, Adebayo Taofiq, LASTMA spokesperson, disclosed that the officers would be facing the disciplinary committee known as the personnel management board (PMB).

“These 14 male officers (11 seniors and 3 juniors) were caught at different locations across the state extorting money (bribes) from motorists,” Taofiq said.

“We thereby called on residents especially motoring public to support us by promptly reporting any errant officers at the nearest LASTMA offices or use any of the agency’s complaints hotlines (08100565860, 08129928503, 08129928515 & 08129928597) with proof of evidence.”

The LASTMA spokesperson said the agency will continue to punish erring officers in order to remove bad eggs from the agency.
