There are hopes that Demba Ba could return to football, following his “perfect” surgical operation after suffering one of the most horrible injuries in football history.
Ba went under the knife at Putuo District People’s Hospital after the injury amidst fears he might never be able to kick a ball again.
Olivier Bringer, the French surgeon who performed the surgery, said the three-hour-long operation on Ba’s fractured leg was successful.
Wu Xiaohui, Shanghai Shenhua general manager, said Bringer did the stitches on the wound himself.

“Bringer was stitching carefully,” he said.
“He told me before the surgery that he would make it one of his most perfect operations.”
Nearly 100 Greenland Shenhua fans showed up at the hospital to show their support to the Senegalese striker.

Doctors said Ba will stay in the ICU for three days for observation.
He will then spend another week in the hospital’s VIP ward before his family decides whether to move him to a medical center in Qatar for recovery.
The 31-year-old forward broke his leg after landing awkwardly following a challenge from SIPG captain Sun Xiang during the second half of the CSL game at Hongkou Football Stadium last Sunday.
