Fresh peace move suffers setback as militants hit another pipeline

Suspected Niger Delta militants have attacked an oil field operated by the Nigerian Petroleum Development Company (NPDC) in Delta State.

The incident occurred less than 24 hours after elders from the Niger Delta region held a meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari at Aso Rock.

The elders had presented 16 demands before the president, expressing optimism that peace would return to the troubled region.

Olaolu Daudu, spokesman of the joint force code-named ‘Operation Delta Safe’ confirmed the latest attack to NAN, saying investigations had commenced.
