‘From 5k to 3k per crate’ — Ondo poultry farmers slash price of egg

The Ondo chapter of the Poultry Farmers Association of Nigeria says its members have reduced the price of eggs from N5,000 to N3,000 per crate.

Olawande Fadipe, chairman of the association, announced the price reduction while speaking at the distribution of the grains and commodities to farmers in Owo LGA of the state on Thursday.

Fadipe said the price reduction was due to the distribution of 1,200 metric tonnes of grains and commodities as palliatives to members by Lucky Aiyedatiwa, governor of the state.

“We want to thank the President and Mr Governor for this kind gesture. Recently, poultry farmers have been finding it difficult to operate because of rising costs of animal feeds, and day-old chicken but with this intervention, we can go back to our businesses and make profits,” Fadipe said.

Olayide Adelami, deputy governor of Ondo, who represented Aiyedatiwa at the event, said the essence of the grains distribution is to help boost poultry farming and ensure access to safe, nutritious and sufficient food in the state.

“The distribution of free grains was deliberately done to crash prices of food items and ease the burden of Nigerians due to the current economic situation,” Adelami said.

“Rest assured, governor Aiyedatiwa will do everything within his power to ensure ondo state people enjoy the dividends of good governance and quick government interventions in their specific area of needs.”
