The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) says 128 people died in 376 road accidents in Lagos between January and October.
According to NAN, Babatunde Farinloye, Lagos sector commander, announced the figures during a news conference organised to mark the World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims.
He said 237 people sustained various degrees of injuries while 662 vehicles were involved in the crashes during the 10 months.
Farinloye said most of the accidents occurred as a result of excessive speed, dangerous driving and overloading.

“The annual global advocacy event is designated to recognise and pay respect to the thousands of people who are killed and injured as a result of road traffic crashes,” he said.
“The day is also to sensitise the living on safe road practices. Others are to acknowledge the crucial work of the emergency service and advocate for better support for road traffic victims and their families.
“Also, it is to promote evidence-based actions to prevent and eventually stop further road traffic deaths and injuries.”

He also said that the command would continue to deploy tools of enforcement and advocacy to stem the rate and spate of crashes on roads.
Meanwhile, on November 14, Sunday Ogungbami, the Ogun FRSC head of operations, said 208 people died in 707 road crashes in Ogun state between January and October.
