Fulani herdsmen attack settlement near UniAbuja

About 1am on Saturday, some gunmen suspected to cattle rustlers attacked a settlement within the permanent site of the University of Abuja.

There was exchange of gunfire between security men at the university and the gunmen, who fled as soldiers stationed at Giri Junction waded in.

Isa Mustapha, a student of the university, told TheCable that the aim of the gunmen was to steal cattle in the settlement. Sounds of gunshots, he said, caused panic among students of the university.

“Stealing of cattle in Gwagwalada Area Council, where our university is located, by Fulani herdsmen has become a common occurrence,” he said.
