“The Club is delighted to confirm the signing of Calvin Bassey from Ajax for an undisclosed fee, subject to international clearance, which is expected to be received during the early part of next week,” the statement reads.

“The 23-year-old defender has agreed a contract until the summer of 2027, with a club option to extend by a further 12 months.”

According to Fabrizio Romano, the Italian journalist, Bassey joined Fulham for a fee in the region of €22.5 million.

Bassey exited Ajax after joining the club from Rangers in 2022 for €23 million — a club record for the Scottish team.

Despite being eligible to represent England or Italy, Bassey chose Nigeria due to his parental heritage.

He debuted for the Super Eagles in the first leg of the 2022 World Cup qualification play-off against Ghana.

Bassey has been capped 10 times for Nigeria.
