In a statement by Samuel Aruwan, commissioner for internal security and home affairs, the Kaduna state government expressed shock over the death of the officers.

“The Kaduna State Government has received with immense sadness news of the death of the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Ibrahim Attahiru, and other senior military officers in a plane crash which occurred in Kaduna on Friday evening,” Aruwan said.

“Governor Nasir El-Rufai said that Lt. Gen. Attahiru was a shining star whose sudden death has robbed Nigeria of an officer striving to bring new drive to secure the country against terrorists and other threats to national security.

“The governor said the news of General Attahiru’s death has left him deeply shaken, with a sense of great personal loss, coming so soon after his appointment had brought immense pride and a sense of hope to the people of Kaduna state.”

  1. It’s so sad how things happen in quick succession in Nigeria with no one held responsible. Lives lost, property destroyed, family members in grief, panel of investigations will never see the light of the day, yet nobody cares. May their sins be forgiven and my sincere condolence to the Nigerian Army and their bereaved family members.

  2. Condolence to Nigerian army? No. Condolence to the families of the individuals whose lives have been needlessly wasted by an irresponsible “Presidency”. Air force planes don’t easily have accidents. Ask “The Presidency” what really happened. They know.

    1. First of all May the soul departed RIP. ..Ameen
Secondly as a Nation we need to be very serious in whatever things we do , these incidents is a national tragedy as well as National disgrace, how would a flight with VIP’s aboard take off without forecasting weather and some likely disaster that might occur, its unfortunate we find ourselves in this nation where lives don’t matter at all..may God help Nigeria
