Real Madrid have been drawn against Manchester City for the 2024/25 UEFA Champions League (UCL) play-off round.

The past two winners of the UCL were pitched against each other at the draw held on Friday at the House of European Football in Nyon, Switzerland.

The UCL play-off round is for teams that finished outside the top eight in the new league format and failed to secure automatic qualification for the second round.

While the teams in the bottom eight were eliminated, the clubs that finished between ninth and 24th place were paired against each other for the play-off.

Real Madrid placed 11th in the preliminary stage, just one point below the automatic qualification spot. Man City, on the other hand, sneaked into the play-off spot after winning the final match of the league stage against Club Brugge.

The two teams will face off for the third consecutive season across several rounds of the competition.
