Olayinka Toyinbo, a student of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), has been abducted by gunmen from a farm in Odeda, Ogun state.
Kola Adepoju, head of directorate of public relations, FUNAAB, confirmed the incident in a statement on Sunday.
Olayinka was said to have been abducted on Saturday while he was on a farm in Abule Itoko, Odeda LGA, located not too far from the institution.
According to NAN, Adepoju said the institution’s management had reported the abduction at the state police headquarters, adding that the school is working with the command to ensure the safe release of the kidnapped student.

Confirming the incident to TheCable on Sunday, Abimbola Oyeyemi, spokesman of the police command in Ogun, said two other yet-to-be-identified persons were also kidnapped alongside the student.
He said police operatives are on the trail of the kidnappers, and gave the assurance that the perpetrators would be arrested.
“Our men are on their trail. The student was living on one isolated farm settlement in one village at Odeda. He’s practising fishery. That’s where the abduction took place,” Oyeyemi said.

“The command’s anti-kidnapping team and other tactical squads are on the trail of the attackers, and we have assurance that we will get them.
“Two others working on the farm were also kidnapped.”
