Ganduje, Zulum, Saraki in attendance as Sani Dangote is laid to rest in Kano

The remains of Sani Dangote, group vice-president of Dangote Industries Limited, have been laid to rest.

The deceased was interred at the family cemetery in Koki quarters of Kano metrolink on Wednesday.

TheCable understands that he died on Sunday at a US hospital where he was treating an ailment.

Sani Dangote is the younger brother of Aliko Dangote, Africa’s richest man.

A large crowd had gathered at the emir of Kano’s palace earlier in the day where the funeral prayer for the deceased was led by Sani Muhammad, the Imam of the palace.

Dignitaries at the burial include Senate President Ahmad Lawan, Abdullahi Ganduje, governor of the state; Babagana Zulum, Borno governor; Nduka Obaigbena, publisher of THISDAY newspaper, Abdulsaman Rabiu of BUA Group and Bukola Saraki, former senate president.

Others are Yusuf Bichi, director-general of the Department of State Services (DSS); Hadi Sirika, minister of aviation; Abdullahi Adamu, former governor of Nasarawa state and Ahmad Adamu Muazu.

In his condolence message, Ganduje said the state and the business community has lost an illustrious son.

“But to all of us, particularly those from Kano state. We lost a rare gem in the business community,” the governor said.

“It is therefore on behalf of the government and good people of Kano state that I am sending our heartfelt condolence to the immediate families of Alhaji Sani Dangote and to his brother Alhaji Aliko Dangote over his death.”

Before his death, Sani had investments in manufacturing, agriculture, banking and oil services.
