Give Boko Haram a final push, Buratai tells troops

Tukur Buratai, chief of army staff, has urged troops in the north-east to remain focused in their final push to end insurgency in the country.

Buratai, who visited the front line unit of 113 task battalion in Gubio local government area of Borno state, commended the soldiers for the successes recorded so far.

“You have done well and you must maintain the tempo,” he said.

“You must be on the offensive and waste no time in giving a final push in ending Boko Haram.”

He appealed to his men to be patient with the delay in the payment of their salaries and allowances, saying the issue was being sorted out.

“There may be a little delay, but everything is being sorted out,” he said.

The army chief also visited the 118 task force battalion, where he urged the troops to sustain the final offensive against insurgents.

At the newly-formed 23 task force brigade located in the Jakana area of the state, Buruatai hailed the gallantry of the troops, and participated in a night operation with the men of the 29 task force brigade along the Jakana axis.
