Peter Obi, presidential flagbearer of the Labour Party (LP), has called on candidates of the party contesting for seats in the Anambra house of assembly, to give in their best if elected.
TheCable reported that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) moved the date for the conduct of governorship and state assembly polls in the country to March 18.
The initial date for the conduct of the polls was March 11, but was shifted by INEC to “have enough time to reconfigure the bimodal voter accreditation system (BVAS)”.
Meanwhile, Anambra is among states such as Edo, Osun, Bayelsa, Ekiti, Kogi and Imo that hold their governorship election at a different time from other states.

Obi, in a post on his official Twitter handle on Saturday, said he met with the state assembly candidate of the LP in Anambra on Friday night.
“Yesterday, I shared great moments with all the candidates of our great party, LP, in Anambra State, both at the Federal and State level,” he said.

“I reminded them that at the centre of our campaign will be a strong desire for service to the people and a firm commitment to nation-building.
“We must build a better nation for ourselves and for future generations. Once again, I congratulated our candidates who won various elective posts at the Federal Level and encouraged those contesting at the State level to give in their best.
“I listened to their challenges and wished them well. They shall succeed.”
The former Anambra governor also visited Chijioke Edeoga, LP governorship candidate in Enugu, and Alex Otti, LP governorship candidate in Abia, on Friday.
