Lagos-based online grocery store, Jaramall.com has launched a give-back initiative ahead of the #GivingTuesday annual event to celebrate ‘Lagos Heroes’.
Now in its third year, the #GivingTuesday is a worldwide movement dedicated to charitable giving.
The movement was created by leaders of 92nd Street Y and supported by the United Nations Foundation to harness the power of social media and the generosity of people around the world to bring about real change in their communities.
In Lagos, Jaramall intends to ride on this event to support the millions of people who are making Lagos “tick”.

These people include the men and women in Orange overalls sweeping the roads in the morning, the LASTMA officials making traffic smooth on Lagos urban road and the Rapid Response Squad of the Nigerian police who are already on the 3rd Mainland Bridge at 5:00am to ensure security.
“So while you’re growing richer and getting closer to fulfilling your dreams of building Africa’s largest orphanage, we’re challenging YOU to do something small to celebrate these guys, the ones just around the corner,” Jaramall founder, Adekunle Jinadu, said.
“You can even join hands with friends, take some LASTMA guys to a cinema. Give some traffic police a healthy lunch. If you want to do something bigger, maybe offer scholarships to some of their kids!”

The company has taken the first initiative to deliver some of its products to special people around Lagos.
“We’re launching it to celebrate the public service people… those who are inspired by it should step out and do something too.”
To join, members of the public have until December 2, which falls on #GivingTuesday, to upload a video on YouTube. The videos should be posted on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/heroesoflagos and on Twitter with the hashtag #LagosHeroes.
Links of the videos can also be sent to [email protected] with the title, ‘Lagos Heroes’.
