Globacom’s Warri festival of joyful prizes

It was all fun and excitement in Warri, Delta state, last week as Nigerian wholly owned technology company, Globacom, rolled out the carpet to reward winners in its ongoing Festival of Joy promo.

Globacom turned its Gloword shop at the Effurum-Sapele road into a carnival ground with the winners and dancers reveling in the joy of the occasion.

On the stands to be presented to lucky winners in the promo were a brand new, green-colour Toyota Prado, two tricycles painted in similar colours and several power-generating sets and sewing machines.

As has become the custom every year-end for some time now, Globacom brought the Yuletide season to scores of its subscribers who participated in the ongoing promo and won mouth-watering prizes.

The impressive carnival event was further electrified by a performance from the Ema Dance Troupe, which entertained the guests with scintillating dance choreography.

The Speaker, Delta State House of Assembly, Hon. Emomotimi Guwor, who was the Special Guest, was joined by the Chairman of Uvwie Local Government Area, Chief Anthony Ofoni; representative of Urhobo community in Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC) Hon. Karo Goru Jonathan; Chairman Uvwie Local Government Area, Delta State, Chief Anthony Ofoni; representative of National Lottery Regulatory Commission, Delta State office, Mrs. Anwuli Efejuku; representatives of the Ovie of Uvwie Kingdom, Chief Okieneni, and Chief Emmanuel Eyela; President of Igbudu Market Association, Warri, Chief Rume Kugberu, Nollywood actor, Ese Eriata, and comedians Gordons and M.C. Forever.

The proud winner of the Toyota Prado, 57-year-old Mr. Daniel Mayuku, who is the Board Chairman of Delta State Security Trust Fund, could hardly contain his excitement. He was not the only happy one. Other winners of tricycles (Keke), power-generating sets, sewing machines and grinding machines were equally excited about their prizes at the ceremony. Ovueve Ofejiro, a native of Ughelli, was also presented a tricycle (Keke) that she won. She was full of gratitude to Globacom for the prize. “I am very grateful to Glo. This Keke will help my family. My brother will use it for commercial purpose immediately.” The other tricycle also went to another woman, Uche Okoro.

Felix Gabriel, one of the winners of power-generating sets, gave kudos to Globacom for always remembering Nigerians in its yearly loyalty reward promos. Scores of other winners took home power-generating sets and sewing machines.

The Speaker of Delta State House of Assembly Hon. Emomotimi Guwor, was effusive in praise of Globacom for always “giving to its customers”. Similarly, the Head of Licensing and Operation, National Lottery Regulatory Commission (NLRC), Delta State office, Mrs. Anwuli Efejuku, praised Globacom for the transparency that had been put in place in the ongoing promo.

Frederick Oiboh, Globacom’s Regional Manager, Warri, had explained how existing Globacom customers can participate in the Festival of Joy promo, saying they should dial *611# and keep recharging. New customers can also participate by purchasing a new SIM, registering it and dialling *611#.

He added that “customers are required to recharge up to N100,000 cumulatively during the promo period to qualify for the draw for the Prado Jeep, N50,000 cumulative recharge for Kia Picanto, N10,000 in a month for tricycle and N5,000 total recharge in a month to win a generator. “For the sewing machine, a total recharge of N2,500 in a month is required, while for the grinding machine, a recharge of N500 in a day will be eligible for the draw,” he said.
