Super Eagles’ defender Azubuike Egwuekwe has rubbished reports that he scored an own goal in the Finnish league on Thursday.
The KuPs of Finland player was said to have scored an own goal in their Veikkausliiga match against PK-35 Vantaa.
Egwuekwe told TheCable: “I was not the player who scored the own goal. I was not even close to the box eighteen when the own goal was scored.
“It is the Guinean Boubacar Diallo that scored the own goal. How come everyone is saying I am the scorer of the own goal now?”

His team lost as a result of the own goal.
“It is all over in the Finnish newspapers here that it is Boubacar Diallo that scored the own goal in the 35th minute of the match yesterday,” he said.
“How come some online media carried it and say it is Azubuike Egwuekwe that scored? I am not happy about this.

“For the record, I never scored that own goal. It is Diallo.”
