It’s a day of 2-0 win for Nigerian football after the U-17 team, the Golden Eaglets, emulated the home-based Super Eagles with a victory over the USA in the FIFA U-17 World Cup in Chile.
The defending champions dominated the game from start to finish, earning a comfortable win in the World Cup opener on Saturday in Santiago, Chile.
The first goal came few minutes after the break when Auston Trusty’s failed clearance fell into the path of Chukwudi Agor, who made no mistake from eight yards out.
Striker Victor Osimhen doubled the lead 11 minutes after Trusty kept him onside. The Nigeria No.9 ran for goal and held off the challenge from Trusty and Hugo Arellano before sliding the ball home.

Nigeria controlled more than 60 per cent of possession and often exposed the US back line to intense pressure. Unsurprisingly, US got a man sent off after Trusty was given the marching order for stamping on Osimhen three minutes to the end of the encounter.
The Golden Eaglets will face Chile on Tuesday before finishing the group game against Croatia on Friday.
