Nigerian lady golfers performed well at the recently-concluded 2022 India Cup held at the Ikoyi Club Golf section with Rosie Nkeaka shooting 70 net to victory.
Ziona Obata, who was three strokes adrift, was the runner-up while Lynda Obieze won the lowest gross with 87. Fatoumata Coker and Kate Iketubosin also won the longest drive and nearest to the pin respectively in the class.
Jerome Bello won the lowest gross while Tunde Owolabi got the net prize in the veteran category.
In the Caddies and Professional round that teed off the tournament on October 31, Patrick Paul — with 68 gross — ran home with the professional’s prize, while Emmanuel Samuel and Linda Gabriel were the star players for the male and female caddies respectively.

Gaurav Vaswani, a sixteen-handicapper, won the biggest prize of the week-long championship that featured over 400 golfers in different categories. Vaswani’s 65 net return in the closing round earned him the title, getting a trophy and a Business Class RwandAir ticket to Kigali.
Aditya Khosla, with twenty handicap, finished four strokes behind Gaurav while Bolaji Martins shot 70 net to place third. Joachim Afe and Remi Olukoya got fourth and fifth places respectively. Oluwaseun Faleye also won the men’s gross prize and got a Business Class return trip on RwandAir to Kigali or Mumbai.
Sunil Thadani, chairman of the organising committee, said the India Cup is a tool to promote the bond that exists between its members and other nationals.
