Gombe assembly removes deputy speaker

The Gombe state house of assembly has removed Shu’aibu Haruna, its deputy speaker.

The house, on Tuesday, passed a “vote of no confidence” on Haruna, who is representing Kwami east.

According to NAN, Adamu Pata, who is representing Yamaltu east, moved the motion to remove Haruna. It was seconded by Tulfugut Kardi, lawmaker representing Billiri west.

Twenty-one lawmakers out of the 24 members of the state assembly supported the motion.

However, the reason for Haruna’s removal was not made public.

The deputy speaker has since been replaced with Siddi Buba of Kwame west.

Sadam Bello, lawmaker representing Funakaye, nominated Buba to replace the former deputy.

Abubakar Ibrahim, speaker of the house, swore in the new deputy by virtue of section 94 of the 1999 constitution as amended.

Earlier, the house had deliberated on two bills for the establishment of contributory health management agency and hospitals’ management board, submitted by Inuwa Yahaya, the governor.

The speaker of the house submitted the bills to the committees on health and finance and gave them one month to submit their report to the house.
