Be good to you

YouNow is created for the everyday individual who seeks to gain a deeper understanding of Self in order to achieve their highest potential, while staying true to their essence. These write-ups are designed to help you become more conscious and deliberate in your interactions and day-to-day living

Many of us make an effort to be kind to the people we love, but we rarely extend that same effort to our relationship with ourselves.

Some people tend to focus a little too much on the outside world. They try to help the people there and be of service at the expense of their mental and physical health and by extension, their own lives.

“What will I do, I just have to be there”

Others tend to focus too much on their own thoughts and what is happening inside of their heads.  So much overanalyzing is done and beliefs that everyone cares (more than they really do) about what you do are created and reinforced.

“I can’t do that o! Before they say …”

‘It is not selfish to take time for yourself too, we all need balance in life and to better be able to help others, you need to help yourself too. Otherwise you’ll feel worse and worse as time passes and you’ll be of less and less help to others.

Even though we all have an inner critic, some of us are just plain critical of ourselves!

There is always someone richer, thinner, smarter, or more powerful than we are, someone who makes us feel less, in comparison.

For many of us, we compare ourselves by standards that are not even in our reality.

We easily become too blinded by the present to acknowledge the successes in our past.

When faced with failings and insecurities, show kindness to yourself.

Do not yield to self-judgment. It slowly robs you of your confidence. Remind yourself of when you’ve succeeded at something; of when someone showed gratitude for something you did.

Remember how far you’ve come and compare yourself with yourself. The other person is not better because of today’s circumstances.

Cut yourself some slack.
