Good news: Ebola victim is discharged

Minister of health, Professor Onyebuchi Chukwu, has delivered some good news: five of those currently undergoing treatment for Ebola “have almost recovered”.

He said one has fully recovered and was discharged from the hospital on Saturday.

The discharged patient is a female doctor, the minister told the media in Lagos.

Chukwu said the patient was discharged “after conclusive discharge protocols”, adding that she could go home to resume her normal life.

He did not reveal the name, but she was apparently one of those who attended to the index case at the First Consultant Hospital, Obalende, Lagos.

Chukwu  said a total of 12 cases have been confirmed and that apart from Lagos –where 189 persons are placed under surveillance – and Enugu, where 6 persons are quarantined, no other part of the country has record of the disease.

He commended the Lagos state government for a swift response to the situation, disclosing that the government has made provision for a better ward with a capacity of 40 beds (pictured) for victims of Ebola.

  1. Ojay no mind US, a doc used silver solution (off the books)to reduce viral load in a HIV patient in nigeria, that quarter to go. The person much better now, with good cd4 count

  2. Our Father in Heaven, we bow down and worship You – Your stedfast love extends to the heavens, Your faithfulness reaches to the clouds, Your righteousness is like majestic mountains and Your wisdom like the depth of the sea.
There is no other name given among men by which anyone can be saved, except the name of JESUS, JESUS, JESUS – Amen.

  3. I am happy that the Doctor has recovered and is free of the virus. From the comments I have seen so far, Nigerians are all screaming about God. God, the omnipotent, created human beings and gave them brains to use to solve their problems.

Nobody is giving credit to the science , dedication and intelligence that created ZMapp, the Ebola drug. Why is it that Americans, who we expect to save us from this scourge, never invoke God, when they go about solving their problems?

Perhaps because they know that God has given them the brains to solve problems and then get on with the job. The Black Man should stop disturbing God and get on with the very hard work required to solve his myriad of problems.

  4. Alhamdu Lilahi Robili Alamin. Glory be to God and we are sure that since the good news has started, it will continue. However, our govt’s should not relent in their efforts while our people should continue to take the recommended and necessary precautions.

  5. I’m very grateful to God for release but pls can some1 tell me why is it that the doctor in america despite receiving zmapp and is physically much better is still being kept in isolation while we released ours within less than 2 weeks …without any medication …is there a follow up by WHO or what?? mr simon help us ask.
