A socio-political group, Assembly of Concern Niger Delta People (ACNDP), has advised President Muhammaudu Buhari to appoint Goodluck Jonathan, his predecessor, as special envoy to Niger Delta.
Eperemor Governor, national coordinator of the group, made the appeal in a statement, saying the appointment will help in containing the activities of the militants, who have brought the country’s oil production to a 22-year low.
Governor said as an indigene of the area, and former governor of Bayelsa, Jonathan would help to bridge the gap between the region and the federal government.
Governor, however, condemned the spate of pipeline bombings, adding that the bombings were not only affecting the nation economically but degrading the soil of the region.

He urged militants to channel their grievances to appropriate authorities rather than destroying the country’s commonwealth.
