ASHA Empowerment and Development Initiative, a non-governmental organisation, is seeking the end to discrimination against people with disabilities, in commemoration of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) Day for People Living with Disabilities (PWD).
UNGA set aside December 3 as the International Day of Persons with Disabilities in order to enable governments and organisations implement measures to improve the life of disabled persons all over the world.
Vweta Chadwick, global programmes director of the initiative, said ASHA annually uses the day to promote an understanding of disability issues and mobilise support for the dignity, rights and wellbeing of persons with disabilities.
Chadwick said ASHA had adopted the term ‘inCLUDEus’ with the theme ‘Creating Enabling Working Environments’ for its 2014 edition.

The programme director said ASHA would focus on the role of technology in disaster risk reduction and emergency responses through massive awareness.
She added that ASHA would also campaign for equality in opportunity for promotion, advancement, transfer or training, and accessibility to public office buildings, disabled parking spaces, disabled stair lifts in Airports.
ASHA urged willing individuals and organisations to join its quest to end discrimination of PWD.
