Group endorses Boroffice as deputy senate president

A pro-Muhammadu Buhari group under the aegis of Women for Buhari and Osinbajo, wants Ajayi Boroffice, lawmaker representing Ondo north senatorial district as deputy senate president.

In a statement, Fatima Adams, national coordinator of the group, said the prefer Boroffice to other lawmakers eyeing the position.

The group said its aim is to make sure that governance goes smoothly in the country from collaboration and good relationship, between the executive and legislative arms of government.

“When arms of government lack cordial relationship, then government cannot run smoothly, this can be seen in the outgoing 8th Assembly, in which its leadership usurped power and frustrated the President Buhari administration’s efforts in trying to lead Nigeria out of the challenges facing the country at that time,” Adams said.

“It is in the light of the above that women for Buhari and Osinbajo group feel that  they need to x-ray the people that will likely ascend to presiding officer posts in the legislature and  one that comes to mind easily for us is  Boroffice.

“Having won his third senatorial bid,   coupled with his academic achievements, legislative experience, excellent public service records and proven loyalty to the APC,  Boroffice is eminently qualified as the next deputy senate president.”

Adams said in the 8th senate,  Boroffice was one of the few APC senators who displayed unwavering loyalty and solid support for Buhari and the APC during “turbulent and tumultuous” times.
