The Concerned Indigenes of Kaduna Central Senatorial District has threatened to recall Shehu Sani, senator representing the district, from the national assembly.
Addressing a press conference in Kaduna on Monday, Aliyu Saidu, spokesman of the group, accused the senator of making disparaging remarks about President Muhammadu Buhari and Nasir el-Rufai, governor of Kaduna.
Saidu said Sani’s “attacks” on Buhari and el-Rufai were unacceptable.
He also said the senator’s criticisms against the duo had caused damage to the president and the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Sani has been at warring paths with el-Rufai and has also been a fierce critic of the current administration.
Saidu described Sani as “the foster boy of President Buhari’s enemies, always amplifying the challenges we are facing while ignoring the many progress the administration is making in order to portray the government as incompetent and clueless”.
“We hereby inform the world that we shall be exercising our available constitutional options by initiating a recall process against Senator Shehu Sani,” he said.

“By working against the president and identifying with the enemies of the Buhari administration, Sani has not only betrayed his constituents, he has declared war on them because we the people of Kaduna central unanimously support President Buhari in his effort to fix the economy and rid Nigeria of corruption and insecurity.
“By his actions, the senator has caused more damage to the president and our great party and his actions have harmed our collective interest as a senatorial district.”
The group said it is regrettable that the APC has failed “to call senator Shehu Sani to order” for his “open belligerence against the government and our great party.
“No individual, no matter how highly positioned is above the party. We therefore call on the party to initiate disciplinary action against the senator because allowing this to go unpunished will only embolden other rebels.”

Reacting to the claims, Suleiman Ahmed, special adviser to Sani on politics and ideology, said for years, “el-Rufai has been using this sort of fake groups to fight his cause and all have failed”.
“This amorphous and fake groups are nothing but Governor Nasiru el-Rufai’s errand boys doing his bidding in the hope that it will buy him peace of mind,” he said in a statement.
“They sponsored goons, rabble rousers and el-Rufai’s foot soldiers set to distract the senator and make noise.
“El-Rufai is a coward who is afraid of Senator Shehu Sani in the upcoming 2019 election and is now resorting to recall through his boys.”
