Group to sue Auchi Poly rector for revoking admission of some students

A group, Civil Empowerment and Rule of Law Support Initiative (CERLSI), has issued a two-week ultimatum to Sanusi Jimah, rector of Auchi Polytechnic, Edo state, to rescind the decision of revoking the admission of some students.

The group had earlier accused the school of arbitrarily removing names of already admitted students who were unable to make the full payment of their school fee.

Some of the admitted students had said they were denied registration because of their failure to meet the two-week deadline for payment.

A student said he got admitted into the department of estate management on November 1, and he paid N48,000 at the designated bank on the 15th of the same month but when he later opened the portal for his registration, his name was no more on the list.

In a statement, Bob Etemiku, the group’s deputy executive director, said the rector will face legal action if he fails to rescind his decision to revoke the students admission.

He accused the rector of being inconsiderate to the plight of the students who had gone through a series of preparations and examinations before they were granted admission.
