Gunmen have abducted five persons in Madiya Village, Gujba LGA of Yobe state.
The gunmen were said to have mounted a roadblock in the Madiya area of the state before abducting the victims.
Dungus Abdulkarim, spokesperson of the Yobe police command, confirmed the incident in a statement on Wednesday.
Abdulkarim said the victims are Babagana Kachalla, an assistant headmaster of Central Primary School in Buni Yadi, Abubakar Barma, Haruna Barma, Modu Bukar and Hajiya Gana.

According to the command’s spokesman, the incident occurred at about 8:20 am on Tuesday and was reported to the divisional police station in the area by one Mala Boyema.
The spokesman said Boyema “luckily escaped the abduction carried out by heavily armed insurgents when he ran into their roadblock in Madiya”.
He added that Kachalla was later released by the gunmen.

Cases of kidnapping for ransom and banditry are on the increase in the northern region of the country with many incidents of attacks reported across states.
