The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) says gunmen have abducted one Victoria Dandaura, wife of a deputy commandant of the agency.
Olusola Odumosu, NSCDC spokesperson, confirmed the development in a statement on Thursday.
Odumosu said the incident occurred at about 7pm on Wednesday in Nasarawa.
He said the deputy commandant’s wife was abducted at her residence in Gidi-Gidi, around cattle market in Lafia, the Nasarawa capital.

“Unknown gunmen stormed the residence of deputy commandant, Apollos Dandaura, and took control of the environment by shooting sporadically in the air and thereafter whisked the wife away at gunpoint,” he said.
“She was kidnapped inside her living room and taken away without any traces for now.”
The NSCDC spokesperson also said Ezekiel, a brother to the deputy commandant, was shot during the attack.

“He sustained gunshot injuries in the course of the attack and is currently receiving treatment in a hospital facility,” Odumosu said.
Meanwhile, Nasarawa is one of the states battling insecurity, which has resulted in the killing and abduction of residents, while several others have been displaced following attacks on communities.
