Four residents of Bmuko community in the federal capital territory (FCT) have reportedly been abducted by gunmen.

The community is nestled in the Dutse Baupma axis of Bwari area council.

A resident said dozens of armed men invaded the community just before midnight on Monday, shooting sporadically.

Josephine Adeh, spokesperson of the FCT police command, told TheCable that she was yet to be briefed about the incident and that the command was still investigating reports of the attack.

Gunmen have increasingly targeted the Bwari area of Abuja since the turn of the year.

On January 5, gunmen attacked the home of one Al-Kadriyar in Bwari and abducted him alongside his six daughters.

During the attack, a relative of the family was killed, while two police officers were shot during a gun duel.

Kidnapping for ransom has also been rife in and around the community in recent times.
