Gunmen attack bullion van in Ondo

Gunmen, on Thursday, attacked a bullion van at Elemosho village, along Akure-Ondo expressway in Ondo east local government area of Ondo state.

TheCable understands that the attack lasted for several minutes before the gunmen fled the scene.

Eyewitnesses said the attackers succeeded in carting away the money in the bullion van.

Tee-Leo Ikoro, spokesman of the Ondo police command, confirmed the incident.

Ikoro said the robbers succeeded in overpowering the security personnel escorting the van.

He added that the gunmen escaped with a Lexus SUV.

The police spokesperson also said there was no life lost in the attack, noting that the command has commenced investigation into the incident, while officers are on the trail of the attackers.
