Gunmen kidnap four travellers in Ondo

Some gunmen have reportedly kidnapped four travellers in Irun Akoko, Akoko north LGA of Ondo state.

The incident was said to have happened at about 6 pm on Saturday along Irun/Imesi road.

It was also learnt that the travellers were from Irun Akoko, Ikare Akoko and Ekiti communities, while soldiers and officers of the Amotekun Corps from Ekiti and Ondo states with the cooperation of local vigilantes are presently searching the forests to rescue the victims.

When contacted, Adetunji Adeleye, the commander of Amotekun in Ondo state, confirmed the development.

“My men and soldiers from Ekiti are combing the forest. But the hoodlums did not kidnap the 18 passengers in the bus as being speculated,” Adeleye said.

“Some of the passengers escaped themselves, while our men with soldiers recovered some of the victims in the night.”
