Gunmen kidnap six-year-old son of Bayelsa commissioner

Antonio Talbot, son of Nengi Talbot, commissioner of water resources in Bayelsa state, has been kidnapped.

The gunmen, who were said to be four, invaded the commissioner’s residence at the commissioners’ quarters in Yenagoa on Sunday.

Asinim Butswat, the police public relations officer of the Bayelsa police command, confirmed the incident.

He said the four-member gang invaded Talbots’s home at 11:30pm on Sunday and whisked the victim away to an unknown place.

“The command has launched a manhunt to rescue the victim and arrest the suspects. An investigation is ongoing,” Butswat said.

The kidnappers are yet to make any contact with the family of the victim.

Cases of kidnapping have been reported in several states in the country.

Bernard Jomah, proprietor of Dynamite Force football club in Iyamho, Edo state, was kidanpped on Friday along Okenne-Lokoja road, Kogi, on his way from Abuja.

Yahaya Abubakar, district head, and Ibrahim Musa, former education secretary of Birnin Gwari local government area of Kaduna state, were kidnapped five days ago.

Three brothers identified as Jonathan, Joakin and Benjamin Obi were also abducted at Sabon Tasha in Chikun local government area of  the state.

The abductors of the district head and ex-secretary reportedly disguised in military uniform when they attacked the victims’ vehicle along Birnin Gwari road while the three brothers were kidnapped by suspected hoodlums.

On December 10, two expatriates and a Nigerian official of Triacta Construction Company in Galadima Kogo village of Shiroro local government area of Niger state, were kidnapped.

The kidnappers were said to have demanded N20 million ransom to release him.
