Susana Jonathan, permanent secretary in Taraba state ministry of water resources, was on Sunday abducted by unknown gunmen.
Jonathan was kidnapped from her residence in the ATC area of Jalingo, the state capital.
Confirming the attack, David Misal, spokesman of the state police command, said her whereabouts is unknown.
The gunmen were said to have fired shots in the air before making away with Jonathan.

“From the intelligence report we have received, the woman is nowhere to be found, but we are yet to receive any official report regarding the incident,” Misal said.
“We want to call on the public not to be afraid of reporting any security threat promptly to security agencies to enable us take proactive measures.”
The attack on Jonathan comes less than a week after Sanusi Sa’ad, deputy registrar, administration, Taraba State University, was kidnapped on campus.

Sa’ad and Jonathan’s houses are said to be a few meters apart.
There has been widespread kidnapping across the country in recent months.
