Gunmen reportedly abducted a lawyer and two other persons in Nkpologwu, Aguata LGA of Anambra, on Monday morning.
The lawyer, whose name is yet to be provided, reportedly arrived from Abuja to speak to a group of women at an event.
The other two victims, who were said to have visited from Rivers state, were whisked away in different directions.
A source told journalists that the incident occurred around 8-9am during the grand finale of the women’s August meeting.

“Three persons have been kidnapped at different locations in Nkpologwu. The gunmen stormed the women’s August meeting and shot sporadically in the air, scaring people away when they took away a lawyer who came from Abuja to address the women,” the source said.
“They also kidnapped two other civilians at a different location in the same community. It was terrible. As I speak, people have deserted the community for fear of the unknown.”
Ikenga Tochukwu, spokesperson of the Anambra police command, did not immediately respond to TheCable’s requests for a confirmation.

However, a senior police officer at the command who craved anonymity, confirmed the incident and disclosed that the command had swung into action in a bid to apprehend the “hoodlums”.
