Gunmen kill 13, injure 15 in Kaduna

Unknown gunmen have killed about 13 persons at Katsak village in Jema’a local government area and Ungwan Danborno in Birnin Gwari local government area of Kaduna state.

The men also injured 15 persons who are currently receiving treatment at different hospitals in the state.

A witness said the gunmen stormed Katsat village during an annual cultural festival, opening fire on those in attendance.

Nasir el-Rufai, governor of the state, confirmed the development to members of the Kaduna state chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), who paid him a courtesy visit on Friday.

El-rufai said efforts were being made to check the high rate of insecurity in the state.

In a statement issued by his spokesman, Samuel Aruwan, el-Rufai also expressed his sympathy to the victims, assuring them that his administration would adopt a comprehensive measure to ensure sustainable peace and security across the state.

The statement also emphasized  el-Rufai’s determination to work with the security agencies and the judiciary in order to bring peace to the state.
