Gunmen kill APC ward chairman in Kaduna

Iliya Auta, chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Aribi ward of Kagarko LGA of Kaduna state, has been shot dead.

Auta was said to have been killed when gunmen attacked his community on Monday night.

Several residents of the community were also reportedly abducted during the attack.

A source told TheCable that the gunmen also rustled cattle.

“Several residents of the community were abducted while others were wounded,” the source said.

The development comes days after three of 25 residents kidnapped from Anguwan Bulus, a community near Sabon Tasha GRA in Kaduna, were killed over “delay in the payment of ransom”.

The victims were abducted during an attack on the community at about 8pm on March 31.

The gunmen are also said to have threatened to kill the 22 other captives if a ransom of N20 million is not paid.

Meanwhile, on April 4, one person was killed while nine others were reportedly abducted by gunmen following an attack on Bagodo community in Chikun LGA of Kaduna state.

Days before the April 4 attack, there had been attacks gunmen on a train in Kaduna, as well as the Kaduna international airport.
