Gunmen have reportedly killed Samson Omoarebokhae, a senior special assistant to Blessing Agbebaku, the speaker of the Edo state house of assembly.
Ivy Adodo-Ebojele, the special adviser to the speaker on media, confirmed the incident in Benin, the state capital, on Monday.
Ebojele said Omoarebokhae was killed on August 31 while on his way to Uhumora from Ozalla in Owan west LGA of the state.
Ebojele added that the speaker sent a condolence delegation and message to the family of the deceased.

The media aide said Odion Iruobe, the speaker’s chief of staff, led a condolence delegation to mourn Omoarebokhae’s death.
“Though it is a painful situation, we pray to God in His infinite power to give the family a reason to smile again,” she said.
“We pray to God to repose the soul of the deceased and give the family the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.”

Responding, Elijah Omoarebokhai, a brother of the deceased, expressed the family’s appreciation to the speaker for sending a delegation to share in their grief.
