Gunmen kill four in attack on Kaduna community

Gunmen have killed four persons in an attack on Goska community, Jema’a LGA of Kaduna state.

The incident was said to have occurred at 4:30pm on Monday.

Confirming the incident in a statement on Tuesday, Samuel Aruwan, Kaduna commissioner for internal security and home affairs, said the attack was reported to the state government by security agencies.

He said the gunmen invaded the community and killed four residents, while one person who survived the attack and sustained injuries is currently receiving medical treatment.

The commissioner said Nasir el-Rufai, governor of Kaduna, expressed sadness over the incident and condoled with the families of the victims.

“The quartet killed were identified as Wakili Kon, Yusuf Joshua, Martha Ayuba and Lami Peter,” Aruwan said.

“Wakili Kon and Yusuf Joshua were attacked and killed on their farms by the assailants.

“One woman, Laraba Silas, sustained gunshot injuries and was rushed to hospital.

“Governor Nasir El-Rufai expressed sadness at the reports, and prayed for the repose of the souls of the residents who were brutally killed by the bandits.

“The Governor sent his condolences to their families, and wished the injured citizen a quick recovery.”

He added that security operatives are currently on patrol in the affected community, while investigation into the incident has begun.
