Gunmen kill guest in Ogun hotel

Gunmen have reportedly killed Gideon Ebukwe, a guest at the Ok Winners Hotel at Igbosoro, Sagamu LGA of Ogun state.

The incident was said to have occurred after some unidentified assailants arrived the place, locking the hotel staff in another room before proceeding to search for Igbosoro.

Omolola Odutola, the state’s police spokesperson, said the incident was reported by Atobatele Igbosoro, the community development council chairman, at 3.30 pm on Tuesday. 

Odutola said the suspects were yet to be arrested, noting that the body of the deceased has been deposited to the morgue.

He assured the public that investigation has been launched to ascertain the nature of the crime, adding that the case would be transferred to the police headquarters in Abeokuta for a more discreet probe.

“At the time of the attack, the hotel staff, mostly women, were locked in another room, while the assailants proceeded directly to the guest’s room,” the statement reads.

“In an attempt to escape, the guest broke through the ceiling but was chased and shot dead, and his belongings were taken.

“Upon receiving the information, the divisional police officer led detectives to the scene. No arrest has been made, and the body was transported to Jas Medical Mortuary in Ogijo.”
