Unknown gunmen killed Samuel Doro, ward chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area (LGA) of Plateau state, in the wee hours of Monday.
Doro’s house, situated in Kurra Drong, near the spring waters of Kurra falls, was invaded in the presence of his wife, who is currently hospitalised after sustaining injuries during the attack.
Both Drong and his wife were rushed to the hospital after the incident.
Emmanuel Abuh, public relations officer of the plateau state police command, confirmed the tragedy, saying that the police had begun investigation.

Plateau was the first state that recorded pre-electoral violence in the current electioneering campaign, as vehicles belonging to the campaign organisation of President Goodluck Jonathan were torched last month.
Rufai Alkali, special adviser to the president on political affairs, had alleged that suspected APC thugs were responsible for the attack.
There have been different acts of violence in the country in the build-up to the general election.

Last week, the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), raised alarm that there might be under-reporting of the casualty figures in political violence.
The body said 55 persons have been killed in 22 states across the six geo-political zones of the federation as a result of electoral violence.
