Hackers ‘deface’ website of Nigerian military

Suspected hackers have defaced www.defenceinfo.mil.ng, the website of the defence headquarters, Chris Olukolade, a major-general and director of defence information, has said.

“Our website has been defaced. There is an ISIS-style attempt to hack into government platforms. Our provider, @Galaxybackbone is on it,” Olukolade announced on his Twitter handle @GENOlukolade.

A statement later released on Friday by Olukolade said: “The site was defaced at the front end. However, the hackers could not infiltrate the database of the site.

“Preliminary investigations show the attack was from the end of the site’s host. One Ima Sadiq who posed as the hacker has been knocked off and normal activities on the channel has resumed.”
