Kaduna state Muslim pilgrims’ welfare agency has warned pilgrims against flouting luggage restrictions during their outbound flight to Nigeria from Saudi Arabia.
In a statement on Friday, Yunusa Abdullahi, the agency’s public relations officer, said the recommended weights for both small and big bags remain eight and 32 kilograms, respectively.
Abdullahi advised the pilgrims against packing prohibited and sharp items, including knives and scissors, toy guns, firearms, explosives, flammable materials, meat cleavers, and razor blades, in their hand luggage.
He added that returning pilgrims should not pack Zamzam water in their main luggage to avoid being impounded by the Saudi authorities during the inspection at the airport.

He said each pilgrim will be given five litres of Zamzam water upon arrival in Kaduna.
Earlier this month, the Independent Hajj Reporters (IHR), a civil society organisation (CSO), commended the pilgrim welfare agency over its plan to refund $50 to pilgrims.
The agency had refunded $50 each to 700 pilgrims that paid for ‘Hadaya’ (animal sacrifice), following the downward price review it got from the company engaged to slaughter animals during the spiritual exercise in Saudi Arabia.
