Nasir el-Rufai, governor of Kaduna state is currently under fire for saying foreigners will leave in body bags if they intervene in the forthcoming elections.
The governor made the comment while speaking on a Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) programme on Tuesday night.
The comment had sparked an outrage on the social media, with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) calling on the international community to impose travel ban on the governor.
Below are reactions from the social media.

Dear Governor Nasir El Rufai @elrufai
Just so you know, nobody has monopoly of violence! You keep waving violence at us as if you alone own it. YOU DON'T!
Body bags we already are used to in APC government!

Did you listen/hear of @Elrufai’s words threatening to murder foreigners who intervene in our elections? Are you aware that El-Rufai celebrated when Niger Republic Governors campaigned for @MBuhari in Kano?
RETWEET if Elrufai DOES NOT speak for you!#ElrufaisSanityIsInDoubt

2-@elrufai’s exact words were “we are waiting for the person that will come and intervene, they will go back in body bags.” Shocking as his words may be, this is vintage El-Rufai, a man who talks carelessly, especially when he is off his medications ##ElrufaisSanityIsInDoubt

Is this madness? President @MBuhari if you don’t reject this evil, this fellow will bring your government into disrepute! Never in Nigeria’s history have we ever had such recklessness in a public official. I urge @OfficialAPCNg to publicly repudiate this https://t.co/9k02TSr16j

The threat by Gov. El-Rufai that foreign powers that interfere in our elections would go back in "body bags" is troubling & sickening. Are we in a jungle here? Are we murderers? We must stop "leaders" who think they have the right to say & do anything. @elrufai Represent us well!

El-Rufai is an extremely dangerous, irresponsible (& possibly deranged) man.
How can you say to people that they'll go back in body bags?
I hope the international community is taking note of El-Rufai's inciting statements.@EUEOMNigeria19 https://t.co/B7Lf6PUJwr

El-Rufai cannot change. He's not only a purveyor of hate speech, but one who acts on his words.
The recent riots which left tens of people killed in Kaduna was ignited by his conversion of Chiefdom to Emirates.

I think it’s high time the constitution enshrines sanity check as a qualifying criteria for politicians seeking public office. This could’ve prevented a mad man like El-Rufai from putting Nigeria to shame through his comments pic.twitter.com/KQOilFDEzw

When u are part of a govt that doesn’t care about human rights, violence becomes second nature.
El-Rufai’s statements are not surprising.
These people are kicking against being held accountable because they have no intention of giving Nigerians free and fair elections. Madness pic.twitter.com/zziGIdgJxI— adacampbell.eth (@Adacampbell) February 6, 2019
