Hausa community rejoices as Ihedioha appoints northerner as aide

The Hausa community in Imo state has commended Emeka Ihedioha, governor of Imo state, for appointing one of its members, Hassan Babidi as his special assistant.

Ihedioha had on Wednesday named Babidi as his special assistant on northern affairs.

Onyeukwu said the appointment is to strengthen inter-group relations in the state.

Chibuike Onyeukwu, chief press secretary to the governor, announced the appointment in a statement.

Speaking with journalists, Musa Umar, a leader of the Hausa community in the state, said Ihedioha demonstrated true patriotism and belief in unity of the Nigerian nation, imploring governors in other geo-political zones to emulate him.

He described the appointment as democracy in action.

“Governor Ihedioha has started on a good note, he has showed that he is not a tribalize Nigerian. We now feel at home here in Imo since one of us is now in government,” he said.
